Modelling Self-Heating and Self-Ignition Processes during Biomass Storage

چکیده

A mathematical model was developed to predict the self-heating and self-ignition processes of relatively dry biomass during storage, considering in detail effects moisture exchange behaviour, low-temperature oxidation reaction associated heat mass transfer. Basket heating tests on fir pellets powder at temperatures 180–200 °C were conducted observe process determine kinetics chemical for validation. As a result, it demonstrated that could reasonably represent spontaneous combustion storage. Furthermore, numerical study sensitivity analysis revealed describing transfer with reliable estimations kinetic thermophysical parameters material is necessary predicting self-ignition, effect water behaviour essential even biomass, such as pellets, content up 15–20%.

Measurement of Self-Heating of Biomass Pellets using Isothermal Calorimetry

This thesis presents experimental work performed to develop a sensitive screening test procedure for biomass pellets, using isothermal calorimetry for direct measurement of the heat production rate. This method can be used to directly compare the reactivity, that is how prone the fuel is to self-heating, of different batches of biomass pellets. The results could be used for safety assessment by...

DC self-heating effects modelling in SOI and bulk FinFETs

DC thermal effects modelling for nanometric silicon-on-insulator (SOI) and bulk fin-shaped field-effect transistors (FinFETs) is presented. Among other features, the model incorporates self-heating effects (SHEs), velocity saturation and short-channel effects. SHEs are analysed in depth by means of thermal resistances, which are determined through an equivalent thermal circuit, accounting for t...

Assessment of Self-Heating in Wood Pellets by FE Modelling

The self-heating process in a laboratory scale experiment has been modelled using the Comsol Multiphysics software. In the simulations the gas flow and air movement in the volume and heat diffusion in the bulk were taken into account however only one reaction in the pellets bulk is considered. The input data is found from measurements of the reaction chemistry and the heat transfer properties. ...

Self-heating structural materials

Self-heating structural materials, being useful for deicing and space heating, are reviewed. They include cement–matrix and polymer–matrix composites that are rendered self-heating through enhancing their effectiveness for resistance heating. The enhancement is attained by the use of electrically conductive fibers (continuous or discontinuous) and interlayers. The interlaminar interface between...

Imposing Euclidean Constraints During Self-Calibration Processes

Using Euclidean constraints to model large 3D environment is made possible. This has been a challenging issue for many years. Using such knowledge, not only enlarges the number of feasible cases but it also provides perfect results, unreachable formerly. We deal with a limited set of constraints composed of incidence relations, parallelism, and orthogonality. Those knowledges are given manually...
